Festo: a strong position in a global market
Festo offers one of the widest spectrums of products for pneumatic control and
propulsion system engineering world-wide. By means of the product configurator
direct access to current product knowledge has been created, allowing the sales
department as well as more and more customers to develop complete individual
solutions swiftly and safely.
Until now they arranged models using their own configurator. In this system,
generated order codes symbolizing the components used and their connection
to each other guarantee consistency and completeness. In the part of the
SAP system for recording a customer's order, this code is transformed into
a list of customer order positions. Festo's own developments have been integrated
in the SAP order-recording system.
Parallel management of configuration knowledge and co-ordination with the SAP system,
necessary on a continuous basis, became increasingly time-consuming.
After the introduction of new products or product changes, updating
of information on time was no longer ensured.
The new solution: Order processing - worldwide, fast, correct
A reorientation of the process of settling orders was made possible
by the availability of thes SAP configuration modules IPC/SCE.
