Microscope Configurator

The ZEISS configurator device is an example of selection configuration featuring a unique graphic support display for operators. When with clients, the salesperson, or even the clients themselves, can assemble the most appropriate device from a number of pre-defined modules or parts by the click of a mouse.

Once a decision has been made, the system automatically omits correspondingly inapplicable options, while still keeping the option open for later changes. The configurator uses colored symbols to show the user what will not work, which equipment is recommended based on his selections and which parts of the device remain to be completed.

The user can change any decisions already made afterwards. The system indicates any resulting conflicts, resolves them automatically and requests further decisions where necessary.

The result is a list of parts for a piece of equipment that works. The parts list can be left with the customer as an offer (with corresponding prices) or be submitted to the assembly plant as an order.

In addition to the technical rules and dependencies describing what works together, the configurator features knowledge about accessories, prices and further rules as components.
