ORISA is proud to announce another exciting project with EVERLLENCE SE (former MAN Energy Solutions SE) – one of the world’s leading companies in machine and plant engineering. As one of the oldest industrial companies in the world, Everllence has decided to focus all its energy on decarbonising industry. EVERLLENCE is one of the most important suppliers of large engines and turbomachinery, including related services. The company’s products are used in ships, power plants and various industrial applications, such as the chemical and petrochemical industries. With around 15,000 employees at over 120 locations worldwide and headquarters in Augsburg, EVERLLENCE stands for innovative strength and technological excellence.

Following the successful introduction of our CREALIS® configuration solution for the 175D in the Marine division, we are now continuing our collaboration with EVERLLENCE in the Energy division. EVERLLENCE Energy plans, supplies and builds turnkey EPC solutions for engine power plants, large heat pumps and power-to‑X applications, offering all services from engineering, procurement and construction to operation and maintenance under one roof.

In the new project, the configuration of complex energy systems such as fuel supply, cooling systems and exhaust gas aftertreatment will be mapped in a multi-stage CREALIS® standard. The aim is to present both costs and prices transparently in the configurator, thereby enabling and ensuring efficient and consistent quotation and project planning. With the new CREALIS® project, EVERLLENCE is taking a decisive step towards the end-to-end digitalisation of its complex quotation processes.

From Nobel Prize to practice: CPQ as a piece of the puzzle in major growth theories

Philippe Aghion and Peter Howitt, together with Joel Mokyr, were honoured with the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. Why their research is more relevant today than ever before and how modern CPQ solutions such as CREALIS® from ORISA help companies to systematically shape innovation.

Innovation arises from renewal

Economists Philippe Aghion and Peter Howitt have shown with their Schumpeterian growth theory that long-term economic growth is driven by continuous innovation, in which new technologies and organisational forms replace old ones – a process known as ‘creative destruction’. According to this theory, growth does not simply result from capital accumulation, but from innovation, i.e. new ideas, products, services and production processes. These innovations are driven by companies (known as leaders) that seek to replace existing technologies, processes and organisational structures with more efficient ones in order to gain a competitive advantage. Economic growth is thus a destructive competition and a constant cycle of innovation, temporary monopoly formation and competition from new innovations.

In other words, in our rapidly changing world, standing still is not an option. Economic progress occurs when companies continually renew themselves and replace old structures with more efficient ones; otherwise, they run the risk of going from leader to follower and being replaced by more innovative companies themselves.

Off to Prague: ORISA at the CWG European Fall Conference 2025

In October 2025, it will be that time again: The European Autumn Conference of the CWG (Configuration Workgroup) will take place from 5 to 8 October in Prague, Czechia. As a hybrid format, the event offers the opportunity to participate on-site or virtually. For all on-site participants, there will also be the opportunity to take part in additional workshops on 9 October this year.

The CWG invites you to an international platform where users and experts from the SAP configuration environment can network, exchange ideas and further their knowledge. The conference offers insights into the latest trends and developments in configuration management, SAP solutions and other topics. Participants gain insight into how other companies master challenges and share their own experiences in the field of SAP configuration.

Following our successful participation in Dubrovnik last year, ORISA will once again be a gold sponsor at this year’s autumn conference. ORISA implements accessible next-generation configurator for Porsche Design Timepieces

High-end CPQ meets luxury watches: record implementation takes user experience, performance and personalisation to a new level

ORISA Software GmbH has fundamentally redesigned the existing online configurator for Porsche Design timepieces, both technically and visually, combining technological precision with a luxurious brand experience. The relaunch, which was implemented in close collaboration with the agency muse case and MHP, not only features a new, accessible user interface, but also integrates in-depth CPQ functionalities. These enable customers to enjoy a tailor-made, digital product experience in a quality that lives up to the Porsche Design brand.

ADA-compliant design and technological excellence

The aim was to create a consistent and brand-compliant user experience that is based on the design and functionality of Porsche’s vehicle configurator, which was also co-designed by ORISA, while at the same time meeting digital accessibility requirements. The result is a configurator that not only looks good, but is also fully ADA and WCAG compliant for the first time.

Technologically, the configurator is based on ORISA’s powerful CPQ software, which enables both complex product logic and the integration of visual real-time renderings in this application. A particular focus is on performance and stability – with success: despite the ambitious schedule, the CPQ reflects the high system quality and reliability that meets the premium standards of the product.

An integral part of the redesign is the connection to the CREALIS® Web PDM system. ORISA is responsible for technical integration and ensures that the configured variants can be seamlessly transferred to the manufacturing process. The system is complemented by dynamic image generation. For certain models, 3D models from ORISA’s own portfolio continue to be used. A solution that offers maximum flexibility while maintaining consistent visualisation quality.

Our ORISA summer party on the MS Teamgeist

Anyone who thought that software developers & co. only build digital solutions has not yet experienced our summer party. With wooden boards, corks, a hot glue gun and plenty of team spirit, we built model boats on our annual team day, pushed each other off the SUP and showed just how well we work together when away from our desks.

We started with a few personal words from our CEO: he thanked the entire team for their commitment over the past few months and congratulated our trainees who had just successfully completed their exams. A wonderful moment that showed what is important to us: collaboration, recognition and team spirit. Those who wanted to let off steam had the choice between volleyball, table tennis or wobbly SUP duels (including a friendly push into the cool water).

Model boats were built in randomly mixed groups as part of team challenges, with plenty of improvisation talent and even more creative results. From the majestic ‘MS Türtanic’ to “ORISaale”, ‘Die Flotte Biene’ and ‘Hannibal the fastest ORISANER’ to the no-frills ‘boat’, everything was included. The seaworthiness was tested and celebrated at the grand finale.

There were also games of skill with ropes, pipes and balls, which were sometimes less about sporting elegance and more about strategic chaos. The tasks could only be mastered with good consultation, trust and a little creativity. Strategies were discussed, roles were assigned, sometimes thinking out loud, sometimes improvising and often laughing together when the plan didn’t quite work out as planned. But that’s exactly the appeal of our team building: you get to know your colleagues in a completely different way, help each other out and are even happier when everything works out in the end.

From SUP to steak: the summer party enters round two

The afternoon continued smoothly with the traditional family summer party in the ORISA garden. Here we served up food, barbecued and chatted. Everyone brought something to share, from pasta salad to homemade bread. While the children (and, to be honest, many adults too) enthusiastically painted rocks with acrylic paints at the craft station, people talked, laughed and bonded across team boundaries.

What we will remember is a day full of little highlights and everything we value about ORISA: Team spirit, good humour, genuine togetherness. And the realisation that you don’t necessarily have to sit at a desk to create something great (or at least something that floats) together.

We’re already looking forward to next time. 🌞

Exchange between science and industry at the IWA e.V. symposium

This year’s symposium of the “ Initiative of Science and the Automotive Industry” (IWA e.V.) took place on 13 June 2025 with the slogan “Theory meets Practice” — an event that ORISA, as a long-standing member of the association, once again followed with great interest.

As a software provider specialising in CPQ solutions for complex product and sales processes, we see ourselves as a central interface between technological development and industrial application. This is precisely why the exchange with scientific institutions such as the Friedrich Schiller University Jena is particularly valuable to us.

ORISA has been part of the IWA for many years and is therefore an active part of a network that specifically promotes the transfer of knowledge between science and practice. The association aims to promote application-oriented research — particularly in the automotive and high-tech industries. Topics such as process optimisation in production and logistics, decision support systems and data-driven planning approaches are also highly relevant to our day-to-day work. In addition, such cooperation brings together personalities from business and research, including long-standing partners such as Prof. Dr Armin Scholl, Prof. Dr Nils Boysen and Prof. Dr Johannes Ruhland, with whom we have a close and ongoing collaborative relationship. The other corporate members, Siemens, Airbus Operations and Optware, also make a significant contribution to creating a valuable, hands-on dialogue within the IWA that provides inspiration beyond industry boundaries.

A particular highlight of the symposium was the awarding of the 9th IWA prize for application-oriented scientific achievements. The winners included Dr Thorben Krüger (Volkswagen AG) and Dr Stefan Fedtke (FSU Jena), whose work impressively demonstrated the innovative potential of the interplay between university research and industrial application.

For us at ORISA, the close dialogue with the scientific community confirms time and again that it brings new perspectives to our projects and helps us to continuously develop our CPQ solutions further — in a practical, profound and future-oriented manner. We would like to thank the IWA e.V. for the successful event and are already looking forward to the next dialogue as part of the association, with the University of Jena and with all those involved in shaping the future together at the point where theory and practice meet.

Diversity as a success factor: How ORISA lives equality

Equal rights at ORISA are not just a theory — they can be seen in everyday life. In the way we work together, how decisions are made and how everyone can contribute their own strengths. For us, diversity is not just a buzzword, but a lived reality. Our employees feel that. They experience that competence counts — not gender, origin or marital status. But how does this manifest itself in everyday working life? We asked our colleagues:

When different perspectives come together, more sustainable and innovative solutions are created. Annett, Team Leader of the CREALIS® Service Team, regularly experiences this: “We benefit enormously from bringing together different approaches and experiences. This results in more stable solutions right from the concept phase.” Johannes, Consultant for Strategic Corporate Development, also sees this as a great strength: “Diverse teams not only help to drive innovation, but also to question ways of thinking. That helps us all move forward.”

Role models? Don’t play a role here.

While women still have to contend with prejudices in many technical professions, this is a thing of the past at ORISA. Here, women do not have to prove their competence first — they are trusted from the outset. Female management positions are not an exception, but the norm. Virginia, a dual student, quickly realized this: “I’ve never had the feeling that differences are made between men and women here. Performance counts — not gender.”

However, Heidi, technical manager, knows a different picture from her past. During her studies, she was often one of only a few women in lectures, and there were hardly any female role models. It was all the more significant for her when she experienced a woman in a technical management role at ORISA who was not only recognized, but was also a mother: “Until then, I had thought that I had to choose either a career or a family. At ORISA, I saw for the first time that both are possible.” Vittoria, Project Manager, also confirms that nobody is pigeonholed here: “We are seen for our strengths — regardless of gender.” This is exactly what makes our company strong. It’s not about conforming to certain role models, but about being perceived as an individual with your own abilities. Virginia adds: “I particularly appreciate the fact that successful women are visible here and act as role models — this shows that performance and commitment are the focus.”

Family and career, please

The importance of flexibility in balancing work and family is constantly growing — but even more important is a corporate culture that enables this flexibility. Annett experiences this every day: “My working day regularly ends at half past three, then I pick up my child — without feeling guilty. That feels natural.”
And this openness applies to all parents, not just mothers. Fathers can also combine family and job flexibly here. “It’s absolutely no problem for fathers to take parental leave for longer than two months or to work part-time. ORISA does not adhere to traditional role models,” says Matthias, developer. Vittoria has had similar experiences: “I was able to work part-time for several months for family and academic reasons. The support I received enabled me to make the most of this triple task.”

A working environment in which everyone can contribute is more than just a nice extra — it is the basis for success. Trainee excursion: creativity and fun in Leipzig

Every year, we send our trainees, dual students and interns on a mission: they are banished from their safe office environment and thrown out into the adventure of team-building activities. The goal: cohesion, creativity and perhaps a chaotic anecdote or two for the company chronicles. Last year, the journey took us to Leipzig and let’s just say: it was colorful, fun and definitely not boring. Our trainees report.

The details of the trip were a secret for all trainees, students and interns until departure. We were all the more surprised when, after checking into the hotel, we headed straight to a small art studio in Leipzig for spin painting. There, we were first explained what spin painting actually is and how it works. First, everyone was allowed to experiment on a small canvas and express their individual creativity.

After discussing the pictures we had created, we ventured into our own projects together as a team. We decided on two large round canvases, one to be designed by us and one by Anika and Florian (our instructors). We tipped, dripped and poured our favorite colors onto the canvas. Then it was Anika and Florian’s turn. Here are the two new works of art that will adorn the trainee office in the future:

As we were all in need of refreshment after the long journey and the creative work, ORISA invited us to dinner at the Vapiano restaurant. There was plenty of choice between pizza, pasta and salads and we were all able to eat our fill.

The evening took us to “LILALICHT” Leipzig, a 3D minigolf adventure. Here we were able to experience minigolf in a very special way. Thanks to black light, the course, clubs and balls glowed in bright neon colors. The walls also had some surprises and great effects in store, which could only be discovered with 3D glasses. Who won the final round will remain our secret, but what we can definitely reveal is that everyone had a lot of fun.

The next morning we started with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before exploring Leipzig on our own. We split up to visit different places or go shopping and then met up again at Leipzig Central Station for the return journey.

The shared experiences in Leipzig were great fun for all of us and provided a wonderful opportunity to further strengthen our team spirit. On behalf of all trainees, interns and dual students, we would like to say a big thank you to ORISA!

ORISA at the Open Campus of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena

On January 28, 2025, we supported the Open Campus of Friedrich Schiller University Jena. An event that offered around 400 students the opportunity to gain an insight into the degree programs offered by the Faculty of Economics and Law.

Insight into studying

The Open Campus began with a welcome from Prof. Dr. Christian Alexander and Prof. Dr. Bernd Hüfner. The students were then able to choose between various lectures and interactive workshops, which were expanded this year from the field of business informatics. The topics ranged from “How does the computer think? Artificial intelligence and its application in practice” to ‘Can ants manage a company?’.

Promoting education

ORISA places great importance on promoting education and supporting the next generation of students. By sponsoring the lunch, we not only wanted to provide the participants with refreshments during an informative day, but also to express our commitment to the academic community and the Jena region.

Shaping the future

Friedrich Schiller University Jena was recently named one of the most popular universities in Germany by the student portal “StudyCheck”. Around 95 percent of students recommend their university to others, which underlines the attractiveness of Jena as a place to study. We are proud to be part of this dynamic and growing academic community and are happy to contribute to the education and development of the software heroes of tomorrow.
