On January 28, 2025, we supported the Open Campus of Friedrich Schiller University Jena. An event that offered around 400 students the opportunity to gain an insight into the degree programs offered by the Faculty of Economics and Law.

Insight into studying

The Open Campus began with a welcome from Prof. Dr. Christian Alexander and Prof. Dr. Bernd Hüfner. The students were then able to choose between various lectures and interactive workshops, which were expanded this year from the field of business informatics. The topics ranged from “How does the computer think? Artificial intelligence and its application in practice” to ‘Can ants manage a company?’.

Promoting education

ORISA places great importance on promoting education and supporting the next generation of students. By sponsoring the lunch, we not only wanted to provide the participants with refreshments during an informative day, but also to express our commitment to the academic community and the Jena region.

Shaping the future

Friedrich Schiller University Jena was recently named one of the most popular universities in Germany by the student portal “StudyCheck”. Around 95 percent of students recommend their university to others, which underlines the attractiveness of Jena as a place to study. We are proud to be part of this dynamic and growing academic community and are happy to contribute to the education and development of the software heroes of tomorrow.

Our booth, created in collaboration with Jena Digital e.V., offers a fun and interactive introduction to programming — no prior experience needed!

Using small wooden robots called Cubetto, you can take your first steps in programming or create your very own superhero with our Software Hero Configurator. Answer a few engaging questions, and you’ll discover the unique powers of your personalized software hero. As a special highlight, your hero will be printed as a collector’s card to take home as a keepsake.

Our booth is open to everyone and is perfect for those curious about exploring the world of IT. For anyone interested in the fascinating work of the digital economy, we’ve also prepared exciting insights and plenty of interesting facts. This year’s European autumn conference CWG (Configuration Workgroup) will take place from 13.–17. October 2024 in Dubrovnik and is accompanied by ORISA as gold sponsor. We are looking forward to meeting the CPQ community in Croatia to discuss among other things the advantages of an SAP® variant configuration and latest trends.

CPQ (Configure Price Quote) is crucial for dealing with a wide range of products and the associated management of product variants. SAP® is one of the market leaders in the field of ERP and offers proven and powerful structures for mapping these complex models known as KMATs (configurable material). This includes effective administrative structures, the management of bills of materials (BOM), the mapping of dependencies in the KMATs and calculation schemes for pricing.

The seamless integration of CREALIS® CPQ into SAP® systems is an advantage for optimizing product configuration processes. CREALIS® CPQ uses the SAP® IPC (Internet Pricing and Configurator) which was previously filled with the KMAT models from SAP® ERP. Integration with CREALIA® CPQ opens a wide range of possibilities for elegant designed sales processes in B2B or B2C and efficiently mapping product variation for everyone involved. For example the product logic can be conveniently supplemented by Guided Selling using the user-friendly CREALIS® PDM system or the CPQ application can be enhanced with attractive infographics and dynamic 3D visualizations. The separation of sales views and technical views is one of the challenges that often causes large configurator projects to fail. With the integration solution clear processes can be established in the modeling world, while the end users get a seamless CPQ solution in their hands.

How can we create an open and tolerant working environment in which everyone involved can feel comfortable? How can we strengthen Thuringia as a business location and counteract the shortage of skilled workers? Many Thuringian companies are currently facing these and other challenges.

Last week, ORISA therefore hosted an inspiring workshop on the topic of “Diversity instead of Simplicity”, organized by Bildungswerk der Thüringer Wirtschaft e.V.. Colleagues from a wide range of departments worked together intensively on the importance of diversity in the workplace, intercultural communication, and raising awareness of discrimination. Interactive activities such as lively statistics, the Privilege Walk, exciting quizzes, and inspiring presentations not only expanded our factual knowledge, but also triggered lively discussions and self-reflection.

A big thank you goes to Sara Holzner and Francesco Bindi from the project “listen.understand.act” for the great implementation of this workshop in two versions — on-site and online.
We look forward to integrating the insights gained into our everyday (working) lives.

Last Saturday’s Jobwalk was once again a huge success and we are thrilled by the incredible energy and commitment of all participants. We look back on a day full of interesting conversations and lots of fun networking in a relaxed atmosphere in the best summer weather on Jena’s market square.

Another absolute highlight this year was the homemade Weimar Biebereis, which was exclusively available at our ORISA booth.

This time, we received a particularly large number of questions about apprenticeships — luckily, we had our experienced trainer Florian with us, who was able to help all interested visitors with his expertise.
