Rollo Solar\u00ae MELICHAR GmbH produces customised pool covers for private pool owners, the hotel industry as well as for municipal swimming pool operators. The company is one of the world\u2019s leading suppliers of these electrically operated covers. Today, the company, founded in 1983, employs 62 people and handles up to 3,000 projects annually. 35 percent of sales come from the hotel market segment, 15 percent from the municipal and 50 percent from the private business.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Automatic quote generation including technical feasibility check and parts list resolution For the development of a pool cover solution, the sales department of Rollo Solar\u00ae MELICHAR GmbH has a wide range of components such as drives, profiles, pre-assembly parts, panels, etc. available. The many dependencies between the individual components, as well as the type testing, were previously saved in Excel tables. This did not guarantee an effective mapping of the interrelationships and a further generation of the quote. The quote processes are to be made simpler, faster and error-free using a product configurator. This also includes, among other things, a construction type check with regard to the later realisation as well as a parts list resolution.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Many requirements could be covered by using CREALIS\u00ae standard functions In the course of introducing the merchandise management system Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Rollo Solar\u00ae Melichar GmbH came up with the idea of introducing the topic of configuration there in order to improve the quality of the quotes. In June 2018, Rollo Solar\u00ae launched their product configuration project. <\/span>The structural outlines of the solution concept were already drafted during the first draft. In principle, the actual modelling was ready very quickly. <\/span>For the development of a prototype of the Rollo Solar\u00ae configurator, a manageable spectrum was initially selected from the product range. Its successful implementation was followed by the first optimisations and the successive expansion with the collection of master data, price lists and technical documentation as well as modelling. Many requirements could be covered by using CREALIS\u00ae standard functions. So that changes and extensions to the components and the mapping of the network of relationships can be entered into the configurator by the involved Rollo Solar\u00ae employees themselves, they took part in a dedicated training course. The models can thus be developed and maintained independently of the software manufacturer. <\/span>By the end of October, the first realisation stage had been successfully completed.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

On the right path with the CREALIS\u00ae Cloud Edition The ORISA CREALIS\u00ae product configurator contains the knowledge-based software tools for managing product data and configuring products. The integrated product data management (PDM) is used, among other things, to describe and manage all components of a product family, the dependencies and rules and all visualisation information. These modelling tasks do not require any programming knowledge. Users can make changes and extensions themselves at any time. <\/span>The CREALIS\u00ae CPQ solution in the Cloud Edition was integrated into the website as well as the pre-existing Rollo Solar\u00ae dealer portal. In addition, a bidirectional interface had to be set up for the transfer of the article master data. The management and maintenance of master data is the responsibility of the Dynamics NAV ERP system. In order to effectively respond to dealers\u2019 requests, an interface including authentication has been created. This way, the respective conditions with discounts and payment terms are immediately taken into account. <\/span>The configurator can be accessed anonymously, i.e. by potential end customers, via the Internet at any time. A secured area with more functions is reserved exclusively for the company\u2019s own sales staff and also for the approximately 300 dealers. In addition, a special maintenance access is available in the Cloud Edition for the modellers of the configurator.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

In the future, production orders and maintenance contracts could also be generated with the quote generation process The configurator met with a great response due to its simple intuitive operation, fast provision and the high degree of perfection of the results. However, the complete roll-out of the configurator for the dealer network is still pending. It suggests a noticeable increase in enquiries and ultimately in orders, with a simultaneous decrease in return rates. The time needed to generate a quote has dropped to one tenth. <\/span>Rollo Solar\u00ae recognised that there was definitely further potential for automation. However, it makes sense to go through a certain consolidation phase, to gain further experience and to analyse some processes that are still carried out manually. <\/span>\u201cWe are in the final roll-out and testing phase, in particular carrying out a validation of the final modelling. In principle, nothing stands in the way of a full release in the first quarter of 2019,\u201d reported Felix Thormann. \u201cWe are thinking of offering maintenance contracts with the quote generation in the future. A further step could be to also automatically generate production orders with the parts lists resulting from the configuration.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
