More than 140 years ago, RUD Ketten Rieger & Dietz GmbH u. Co. KG was founded by Carl Rieger and Friedrich Dietz in 1875 in the Swabian town of Aalen with 16 employees at the time. Since the retirement of Friedrich Dietz, the company has been solely owned by the Rieger family and positioned itself as the internationally successful family group RUD. ERLAU AG, founded in 1828 and a former competitor, was added to the RUD group of companies in 1988 and in 2018 the merger with the previous parent company took place. Together with Dr Hansj\u00f6rg Rieger at the helm, his sons, already the fifth generation, have taken on the decisive responsibility of the internationally oriented RUD Group. The RUD Group\u2019s \u2018Conveying and Drives\u2019 business unit offers the TOOL MOVER in the mechanical engineering sector, a tool turner with which heavy tools can be safely controlled. It is flexible to use and can be tailored to specific requirements by choosing different options.<\/p>\n

With the introduction of the product configurator for the RUD TOOL MOVER, the vision of a highly innovative sales tool was realised on 10th May 2017. The completely digital CREALIS\u00ae Configure Price Quote solution (CPQ solution) from ORISA neatly maps the workflow of those involved in sales. Configuration is integrated into a continuous process. For this purpose, master data, configuration logic and prices are transferred from the leading SAP\u00ae ERP database to the configurator via an interface. Direct sending of a qualified enquiry is possible via an integrated e\u2011mail interface.<\/p>\n

The product configurator for the TOOL MOVER is already the third configuration project implemented by ORISA for the RUD Group. Since 2014, the configurator for object furnishing of Erlau AG (a 100% subsidiary of RUD) has been successfully in use and since 2016, the distribution of RUD MA (mountable slings) has been supported by the ORISA configurator.<\/p>\n

Officially named Hidden Champion of the 21st Century, RUD is interested in further supporting the configuration and thus the sales of consultation-intensive products with impressive visualisation in 3D in the future.
