Innovation by tradition
Milestones of our history from the foundation 1991 till now
ORISA’s roots lie in focal Informatik GmbH, which was founded in 1991. The founders came from Zeiss and wanted to build on their experience in the development and production of optical components to strike out on their own. Consequently, one of their first major commissions was to develop a knowledge-based solution for Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH. Knowledge-based systems for industrial manufacturing were developed right from the very first projects. The solution for ZEISS remains a central component of optics production to this day.
ORISA Software GmbH was founded in collaboration with former IBM employees. Drawing on experience with knowledge-based systems, orisabase was developed as the technological foundation for many subsequent solutions.
As a result of the collaboration with the Munich-based consultancy firm Radermacher & Partner, the CREALIS® product configurator was developed to support the description, maintenance and assembly of high-variant products in the manufacturing industry. In April 1998, the shareholders of focal and ORISA decided to merge the two companies.
Through numerous client projects, ORISA has continuously refined its CPQ solutions and gained experience across a wide range of sectors within the manufacturing industry; for example, international industrial companies such as Porsche, Siemens, ZEISS and Netzsch rely on the company’s long-standing expertise. Since relocating in 2008, ORISA Software GmbH has been based at 13 Humboldtstraße in Jena.
ORISA Software was celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2016. Together with long-standing colleagues, customers, partners and numerous guests, the company looked back on a quarter of a century of history and celebrated this special milestone in style at the Jena Planetarium.
Matthias Schwuchow has been appointed as an additional managing director of ORISA Software GmbH. After more than 20 years with the company, he was taking on increasing responsibility at the helm and, together with co-founder Dr Georg Elsner, was ushering in a generational change. Dr Elsner was gradually stepping back from day-to-day operations.
ORISA Software GmbH acquired calcIT Solutions GmbH from the abilis group, thereby specifically strengthening its existing CPQ portfolio. The two companies will pool their expertise, technology and teams to further advance product configuration solutions.
Today: CPQ solutions for international industrial companies
Today, ORISA is an established CPQ provider in Germany with projects for international industrial companies. Its clients include Porsche, Siemens, Zeiss, Netzsch and many others for successfully completed projects.
The focus is on individual project and contract business in following areas: CPQ software, product configuration, variant management and digitisation of sales processes
ORISA combines many years of industry experience with modern software architecture and supports companies in efficiently configuring complex products and calculating quotations accurately.
